Crash with truck leaves woman, 77, with ‘potentially life changing injuries’

Police say the crash happened between the woman, a pedestrian, and the Renault truck between Walmersley Road and Birch Street at around 1pm on the afternoon of Friday October 24.
The 77-year-old man was taken to hospital and officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Unit are now appealing for witnesses or people with footage to come forward.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, SCIU, are appealing for witnesses and information following a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Bury.
“At around 1pm yesterday afternoon, Friday 24 October, a collision occurred between a Renault truck and a pedestrian between Walmersley Road and Birch Street.
“The pedestrian, a 77-year-old woman, is currently in hospital with serious and potentially life-changing injuries.
“The SCIU are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
“They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any CCTV footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.”
A large police presence was reported at the scene over the course of Friday afternoon with a cordon in place.
