Activist Stalin Dayanand said, “We thank CM Uddhav Thackeray for his decision to stop metro work at Aarey and save the Aarey forest. The earlier government had not listened to the appeals of protesters and endangered life and flora and fauna of the forest. We hear that the car shed could be shifted to a location in Goregaon. Our efforts have finally paid off with CM putting a stay on the metro work.”.

Meanwhile, residents of Mahul village in eastern Mumbai also joined the Save Aarey campaigners.

Mahila residents, wearing caps with messages, wanted to send message to Chief Minister that if he can put stay on metro project to save trees, then for saving human lives, the government should act for Mahul residents as well.
