‘Supermarket assault, dagger, speeding’: Six cases heard by magistrates

Supermarket assault
A man was given a community order after assaulting a man at a supermarket.
Steven Watson, 27, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had assaulted a man by beating him at the Aldi in Westhoughton.
This was on December 6 last year.
Watson, of Chapel Street, Leigh, was given a community order including an alcohol treatment programme of 12 months.
He was also ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and was ordered to pay a fine of £50 with compensation of £50 and a surcharge of £85.
Domestic violence order
A man was fined after breaching a domestic violence order.
Aaron Grundy, 40 admitted to Manchester Magistrates Court that he had breached a domestic violence protection order in February this year.
He had done so by contacting, either directly or indirectly, the person that the order was paid for.
Grundy, of Belmont Road, Bolton, was fined £50.
Unpaid work
A man was ordered to pay after breaching his community order.
Maruf Patel, 36, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had failed to attend unpaid work appointments on September 26 and October 31 last year.
This was in breach of a community order he had been given at Bolton Magistrates Court on May 28 last year.
Patel, of The Sheddings, Bolton, was fined £150.
Speeding
A man was fined after speeding at more than 100mph hour.
Chukwuka Charles Nwandiogo, 47, was found guilty by single justice procedure at Bolton Magistrates Court of speeding on the M60 Clockwise between J16 and J17.
He had been travelling at 100 miles per hour in a 70mph zone.
Nwandiogo, of Cotton Meadows, Bolton, was ordered to pay a total of £550.
Driving
A man was fined after driving without proper insurance and without due care and attention in Bolton.
Yaqoub Nasiri, 31, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven a Mercedes Sprinter on the M61 in Bolton without insurance on September 25.
The same day he had also been driving without due care and attention.
Nasiri, of Damolly Village, Newry, was ordered to pay a fine of £461, costs of £85 and a surcharge of £184.
He was also given eight penalty points on his driving licence.
Possession of dagger
A woman was jailed for possession of a knife.
Jane Hull, 56 of HMP Styal, admitted to Bolton Magistrates Court that she had a black handled dagger in her possession in her public place on September 1 last year.
She was jailed for 12 months and ordered to pay a surcharge of £187.
Magistrates also ordered that the dagger be seized and destroyed.
