‘Theft, observing private act, driving’: Four recent cases heard by magistrates

Stealing from supermarket
A man was fined after stealing from a supermarket.
Darren Pearson, 50, admitted to Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court that he had stolen £179.94 worth of meat from Lidl on Manchester Road, Bolton.
This was on October 1 this year.
Pearson, of Gregory Avenue, Bolton was ordered to pay a fine of £80.
Theft of bank card
A man was given a community order after stealing and using a bank card.
Shaun Gordon, 52, admitted to theft, including theft by a finding, a bank card belonging to a woman in Bolton on September 6 this year.
He also admitted to using someone else’s bank card to buy cider on September 7 and to criminal damage after damaging a police officer’s carrier cage on October 27.
Finally, Gordon, of Bradford Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to refusing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.
He was given a six-month community order with requirements to attend appointments with a responsible officer for up to 15 days.
Gordon was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 and fined £50.
Observing private act
A man was banned from Primark and fined after observing someone doing a private act.
Ruben Godinho, 34, changed his plea to guilty at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court to observing someone performing a private act.
This was in Bolton on May 12 last year.
Godinho, of Bradshawgate, Bolton, was given a restraining order banning him from entering Primark in the Market Place until October 12, 2027.
He was also fined £162 and ordered to pay costs of £200 with a surcharge of £65.
Driving without seatbelt, insurance or licence
A man was banned from the roads after driving without wearing a seatbelt, without proper insurance and without a licence.
Hussein Nur Said, 43, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had been driving a Honda CR-V without a seatbelt on Berlin Road, Bolton on April 13 this year.
He had also been driving without a licence and insurance that same day.
Said, of Bury Road, Bolton, was banned from driving for six months and fined £242.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £97.
