‘Drug driving, stealing from supermarket, cocaine’: 5 cases heard by magistrates

Drug driving
A man was banned from the roads after drug driving.
Daniel Parker, 39, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven a Toyota Aigo on Breightmet Fold Lane on June 19 last year while over the legal limit for cannabis.
He also admitted to possession of cannabis that same day.
Parker, of Tetbury Drive, Bolton was given a 12-month driving ban, fined £392 and ordered to pay costs of £157 with a surcharge of £85.
Magistrates also ordered that the cannabis be seized and destroyed.
Stealing from supermarket
A woman was ordered to pay compensation after stealing from a supermarket in Bolton.
Florentina Adar, 37, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that she had stolen £401.89 worth of food, clothing, toiletries and household items from Asda at Middlebrook.
This was on October 31 last year.
Adar, of High Street, Peterborough, was ordered to pay £100 compensation and a fine of £120.
Cocaine
A man was fined for possession of cocaine.
Josh Aspey, 24, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had the cocaine in his possession in Bolton on March 30 last year.
Cocaine is classed as a controlled drug of Class A.
Aspey, of Spa Road, was ordered to pay a fine of £120 with costs of £85.
Magistrates also ordered that the cocaine be seized and destroyed.
Licence and insurance
A man was ordered to pay more than £1,000 after driving without a proper licence or insurance.
Alan Charles Sweeney, 49, was proven by single justice procedure at Manchester Magistrates Court of driving a Ford Fiesta in Bolton on November 7 last year without a licence.
That same day he had also bee driving without insurance.
Sweeney, of Petworth Road, Chadderton, was ordered to pay a total of £1,432 and given eight penalty points.
Drink driving
A man was banned from the roads and fined after drink driving.
Christopher Ennis, 33, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven a Kia Picanto on Sapling Road, Bolton on December 12 last year while over the legal alcohol limit.
He had 82 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.
Ennis, of Stephen Street, Platt Bridge was banned from driving for 17 months.
He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85 with a surcharge of £48.
