Was Colliers Row Bolton’s most isolated primary school?

This photo is from 1953 and you can see the school on Scout Road, Smithills, on the left beyond the row of houses.

The school opened in 1880 served the cottages and farms on the moors above Bolton at the turn of the 20th century.

The school closed in July 1971 with pupils being transferred to the new primary school, St Peter’s Smithills Dean on Limefield Road.
