True Corp allays submarine cable concerns
Internet connectivity assured, no impact from Middle East cable disruption

True Corporation has reassured customers that its internet services in Thailand remain stable and unaffected despite potential risks to undersea cable systems stemming from the conflict in the Middle East.
The company was responding to reported concerns in the global telecommunications industry that some sections of undersea cable networks could be endangered because of the fighting in and around the Gulf region.
Meta and its partners have already had to halt work on the 2Africa Pearls project in the Persian Gulf — an extension of the broader 2Africa subsea cable system. Industry experts say there could be further knock-on impacts.
“While ongoing developments in the Middle East may pose potential risks to undersea cable systems, such scenarios are not expected to impact True’s international connectivity services in Thailand,” True said in a statement on Saturday.
True’s international connectivity is supported by the SJC2 (Southeast Asia-Japan Cable 2) system, which operates on routes between Singapore and Japan. This infrastructure is geographically independent from the affected regions.
Currently, less than 5% of True’s internet traffic is routed to Europe and the Middle East, further limiting the overall impact of any potential disruption, the company said.
“Our teams are closely monitoring developments related to undersea cable systems and have activated a dedicated war room to ensure proactive network management around the clock,” said Khurrum Ashfaque, chief network officer of True Corp.
“True’s network is designed with diversified routing across multiple layers and does not rely on any single international path,” he said. “This allows us to dynamically manage and reroute traffic based on real-time conditions.
“In addition, our global network partners have confirmed sufficient bandwidth capacity and diverse routing options to support continued service delivery.”
