‘Drink driving, cocaine, threats’: Four recent cases heard by magistrates

Driving without insurance

A man was banned from the roads after driving without insurance.

Michael Armstrong, 49, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven a Ford Focus on Milnthorpe Road, Bolton without proper insurance on October 12 last year.

That same day he also had cannabis in his possession.

Armstrong, of Lenham Gardens, Bolton, was banned from driving for six months and fined £80.

He was also fined £80 for the cannabis, ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £48.

Abusive and threatening words

A man was fined after using threatening or abusive words.

Paul Wood, 42, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had used threatening, abusive or insulting words intending to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

This had been towards a woman in Bolton on April 11 this year.

Wood, of Queen Street, Farnworth was fined £576 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £230.

Possession of cocaine

A man was fined for possession of cocaine.

Victor Krumins, 52, indicated a guilty plea at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court to possession of Class A drugs.

He had a small snap bag of cocaine in his possession on Bolton on August 11 this year.

Krumins, of St Georges Road, Bolton, was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85.

Magistrates also ordered that the cocaine be seized and destroyed.

Drink driving 

A man was given a community order after drink driving,

Korhan Moluluo, 43, admitted to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court that he had driven a Mercedes on Chorley New Road, Bolton, while over the legal limit for alcohol.

This was on April 20 this year.

Moluluo, of Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, was given a community order up to August 12, 2026 and given an alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement up to February 13, 2026.

He was also given an electronically monitored curfew between 5pm and midnight from August 13 to August 15.

Moluluo was also ordered complete up to 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days with a responsible officer.

He was also banned from driving for 48 months, with a reduction period of 48 weeks, fined £200 and ordered to pay costs of £85.
