‘He was bleeding lots’ Man in critical condition after daylight attack
The shocking incident took place on Gibraltar Street in Deane at just before 5pm yesterday, September 9.
The victim, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital with “potentially life-threatening injuries”.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed to The Bolton News that officers were investigating the incident, which is thought to have happened at around 4.55pm.
No arrests have yet been made, and investigations are ongoing.
A spokesperson for GMP said: “Officers are investigating reports of an assault on Gibraltar Street in Bolton at around 4.55pm yesterday, September 9.
“The victim, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment on potentially life-threatening injuries.
“No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. A scene remains in place with enquiries ongoing to identify and apprehend the offender.”
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service says they were called to Salisbury Street, which intersects with Gibraltar Street.

“A response vehicle, an advanced paramedic and an air ambulance attended.
“The patient, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a head injury.”

Residents spoke about the incident from yesterday evening.
One said: “I was picking up my brother and came back to find the police in the street. I saw blood in the street.

“The person got hit in the head, he was bleeding lots.”
Another resident said he heard that someone was “hit”, adding: “It is something I didn’t expect, it is the first time I’ve seen anything like it.”
A third added: “I heard the helicopters, and there was quite a lot of presence in the street.
“I’ve never heard as much sound out there as there was yesterday.”
A final resident added: “You don’t want to see this, especially at that time when there are kids outside playing.
“Hopefully the man will get better.”
