Teenager at centre of Bury murder investigation named

Police were called just after 8pm yesterday, Monday, to an incident on Porritt Street involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Despite emergency services efforts, the 19 year-old pedestrian died.
The victim has now been named locally as Brandon Kershaw and Rochdale Coroners’ Court has confirmed it has been notified of his death.
A cordon remains in place on Porritt Street, just off Huntley Mount Road and Thrush Drive and a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Loved ones and residents have shared condolences for Brandon online and in person at the scene, where flowers have been laid.
Tributes have been pouring in throughout the day.
One person shared: “Rest easy Brandon.”
Another added: “R.I.P taken too young man, you will always be like another brother to me.”
Greater Manchester Police issued a statement in the early hours of this morning sharing that Brendon’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Superintendent Wesley Knights said: “Firstly, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time.
“This is a truly tragic incident which has seen a young man lose his life, I would like to reassure the public that this is a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to the community.
“Local officers will remain in the area making enquiries, as well as an increased number of highly visible patrols overnight and into Tuesday. If you have any concerns, please speak to them.
