MALANG SELATAN, Indonesia, June 14 (Xinhua) — Volunteers carefully dug sand to look for olive ridley sea turtle eggs for relocation in the conservation area at Wonogoro beach in Malang Selatan, East Java, Indonesia.

These volunteers mostly came from Bajulmati Sea Turtle Conservation (BSTC), a local environmental conservation organization.

The sea turtles are considered “critically endangered” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. To prevent them from falling prey to human activities and hunting by humans or predatory animals, BSTC has undertaken protective measures.
