Bolton: Thousands without electricity after ‘incident on cable’
Electricity North West has said the town, as well as Wigan, will be the worst affected.
The problem was reported at around 6.45am.
More than 2,000 customers in Wigan and Bolton are without electricity.
Engineers are trying to combat the problem and power is expected to be restored shortly before 10am.
The Electricity North West website said: “This power cut has been caused by an unexpected incident on the high voltage cable that provides electricity to your home or business. We didn’t know before your electricity went off that this was going to happen but now we know, rest assured we will get your power back on safely and as quickly as possible.”
