Chengdu Universiade | Chinese athletes collect 4 Sanda golds

CHENGDU, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) — Chinese athletes collected four Sanda golds in the Wushu tournament, which concluded here on Thursday at the Chengdu Universiade.

China’s Li Zhiqin claimed a convincing win over Berna Tut of Turkey in the women’s 60kg final.

“I gave myself nine points out of 10 today,” said Li, adding that she will enjoy hotpot food and see pandas after the event.

Ma Yigu, 20, won gold by beating Nada Guitara of Indonesia 2-0 in the men’s 60kg final.

“Martial arts have changed my life and given me an opportunity to perform at the Universiade,” said Ma.

China’s He Feng beat Iranian Hamidreza Sahandi in the men’s 70kg final. “I am confident that I will get this gold, as I prepared a lot for the final,” said He, who will next prepare for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Liu Wenlong won the men’s 80kg title by beating Ali Khorshidirabie of Iran.

“Martial arts athletes around the globe have become stronger than ever before,” said Liu.

Indonesia’s Tharisa Dea Florentina and Laksmana Pandu Pratama won golds in the women’s 52kg and men’s 52kg categories.

As the Wushu competition concluded on Thursday, China had collected 11 golds out of a total of 20 on offer.
