Emirates, United expand partnership to include 9 new destinations in Mexico

RIYADH: Customers of UAE flag carrier Emirates airline will now have access to nine new destinations in Mexico thanks to a significant expansion in its codeshare partnership with American airline United, reported the Emirates News Agency, also known as WAM.

The move aims to enable customers to enjoy smooth connections by allowing passengers flying on Emirates to two points in the US, either Chicago or Houston, to connect onward to leisure destinations in Mexico.

The codeshare agreement between the two parties currently includes several US cities and Mexico becomes the first country outside of the US to be added to the growing network.

The new Mexican points include Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, and Puerto Vallarta. They also include Guadalajara, San Jose Del Cabo, Leon/Guanajuato, and Queretaro.

The codeshare partnership also provides more flexibility on flight timings, thereby giving Emirates customers headed to Mexico City more options when choosing flights.

The new points to Mexico bring the total number of destinations within the enhanced codeshare network to 134, accessible from United’s gateways in the US. There are almost another 100 additional points across the US, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean available for customers to choose from on an interline basis.

In August, Emirates announced plans to introduce an additional five weekly flights from Dubai to London starting in October.

The extra flight to London Heathrow, which is set to operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, will begin on Oct. 31 and run until March 30, 2024.

The move is a bid to meet the high demand during the winter season and provide travelers with “increased travel options,” the airline said at the time.
