Helicopter accident kills 1 in India’s Kerala

NEW DELHI, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) — A helicopter accident killed a ground crew of the Indian Navy on Saturday in the southern Indian state of Kerala, officials said.

The accident took place on the runway of the naval air station INS Garuda in Kochi, about 211 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala.

According to an Indian Navy spokesperson, the helicopter “met with a ground accident” during “maintenance taxi checks.”

The Indian Navy has ordered a board of inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, the Navy chief has condoled the loss of life in the accident.
