Saudi FM, KSrelief chief discuss Gaza with head of UNRWA in Riyadh
RIYADH: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Thursday received the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees Philippe Lazzarini and his accompanying delegation in Riyadh.
During the reception, the two sides reviewed cooperation between the Kingdom and UNRWA and ways to enhance it, and the minister reiterated the Kingdom’s position in support of the agency.
Prince Faisal called “for all donors to UNRWA to play their role in supporting humanitarian missions toward the Palestinians, to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian crisis taking place in occupied Palestine,” the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said.
Lazzarini also held talks with Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, adviser at the Royal Court and general supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
The two discussed topics related to relief and humanitarian affairs and developments in humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini expressed gratitude to the Kingdom, represented by KSrelief, for its support for UNRWA and noted the strategic relationship between the Kingdom and the agency.
He said he looked forward to more cooperation between the two sides in the interest of Palestinian refugees.
