Westhoughton: Businessman employed illegal workers at restaurant

Abdul Noor was a director of Lime (Bolton) Ltd, which traded as Mangrove Restaurant & Takeaway, at the time of a visit by immigration officers in 2020.

The Insolvency Service said Mr Noor allowed two employees with no right to work in the UK to work at the restaurant and takeaway on Manchester Road.

The businessman, whose last address was in Hamer, Rochdale, was issued with a fine of £20,000 for a breach of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act and, last month, he was banned from running any business for five years. The fine of £20,000 remained unpaid as of last month.

Lime (Bolton) Ltd is in liquidation but the impact on Mangrove Restaurant & Takeaway is unknown. A sign suggests it is set to close one day a week from July 5, but there is no suggestion it is set to close permanently.

The Bolton News approached the restaurant and takeaway for a comment.
