Kingdom Tour fills Saudi theaters with laughs, music

RIYADH: A Saudi entertainments fest involving 27 concerts and 22 theatrical performances has been playing to large audiences throughout the country.

Thousands of people have turned out over the past four months to watch the Kingdom Tour 2023 which has featured renowned singers and artists.

The tour, the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia, will also include other events until the end of September.

Launched in May as part of the country’s Quality of Life Program, the tour has offered a diverse range of entertainment such as music and comedy with input from the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, Music Commission, and Visit Saudi.

Artists taking part have included Mohammed Abdu, Rabah Saqr, Asala, Khaled Abdul Rahman, Fahd Al-Kubaisi, Aseel Abu Bakr, Zina Emad, and other regional and Arab entertainers.

Among the plays performed were “The Airplane,” “The One with Likes,” “Misfer the CEO,” “London Apartment,” “So That the Shop Doesn’t Fly Away,” “Room 13,” “World War VI,” “Hadi Valentine,” “Memo,” “Publishable,” “Gentlemen,” and “To the Moon.”

The stage shows involved performances by artists from Egypt and Kuwait, such as Ahmed Helmy, Bayoumi Fouad, Ahmed Al-Aounan, Hoda Hussein, Abdel Majeed Al-Rahidi, and Tariq Al-Ali.
